Job Summary:


Weld and assemble components. Mechanical and Assembly Work as well as general labor as needed on occasion..

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Read information from blueprints, technical manuals or other documents.
• Set up fixtures, mount parts in fixtures, and perform mechanical assembly. This includes using hand and air tools such as wrenches, torque wrenches, impact wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, etc.
• Use a hoist to lift and position large, heavier components and completed weldments.
• Set up, adjust, and operate MIG welding equipment to weld machine components.
• Remove components from fixtures, clean and check them for quality, and correct errors or deficiencies of weldments.
• Use a computer to check the location, inventory, routing of parts, and to record inventory transactions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT


• Shop environment most of the time
• The shop environment includes: variable temperature and humidity, noise, and dirt.
• Physical hazards such as sharp objects, moving machinery, welding and other electrical equipment.
• Hazardous materials such as fuels, oils, grease, paint, solvents, coolant, pressurized gases, caustics, cleaners, and metals.
• Occasional outdoor work may be required.
• Work schedule may vary according to the needs of the job.


REQUIREMENTS


• Must have proficiency reading and interpreting welding drawings and diagrams
• Must have basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles.
• Must have knowledge in reading mechanical drawings and hydraulic diagrams.
• Must be able to perform general labor duties as required.
• Communicate with fabrication and engineering.
• Maintain orderly clean work areas, tools, equipment, and other supplies.
• Physically work on equipment assembling and troubleshooting components.
• Assist others in daily duties.
• Other duties may be assigned.


PREFERENCES:


• Welding and fabrication experience
• Experience with Mig and Flux Core welding process.
• Diesel, heavy equipment, or automotive technician experience
• Familiarity with marine and heavy equipment
• Machining experience highly desired
