Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Accounting Specialist with strong knowledge of general ledger management in the manufacturing industry. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting cost accounting functions, and assisting with financial reporting and compliance. The ideal candidate has a strong background in manufacturing accounting, a deep understanding of GAAP, and is detail oriented. The candidate must possess the ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile the general ledger (GL), ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Identify discrepancies and work with the accounting team to resolve data and financial issues proactively.
Collaborate with department managers to track and manage budget effectively.
Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and year-end close processes.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports for management.
Oversee cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
Track and analyze material, labor, and overhead costs to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Work closely with operations to improve financial visibility and cost control.
Identify and implement efficiency improvements in accounting workflows.
Support ERP/accounting system enhancements and integration efforts.
Collaborate with finance, operations, and leadership teams on special projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications / Abilities:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
· 3-5+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
· Strong knowledge of GL accounting, cost accounting, and financial reporting.
· Experience preparing financial reports for CPA.
· Proficiency in ERP systems and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Fishbowl).
· Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
