Watch VMI put the MD-815 horizontal dredge and Sabertooth cutterhead to the test by feeding an entire round bale of hay through the machine at VMI headquarters. The Swamp Hoe amphibious excavator appears throughout the video helping move and manage material during the demonstration.

In this VMI field demonstration, the MD-815 horizontal dredge is tested with an entire round bale of hay to show how the dredge handles heavy vegetation, weeds, grass, brush, sticks, and fibrous material in demanding applications.
Using the Sabertooth cutterhead, the MD-815 chews through the hay and pumps the material through the system with ease. Supporting the operation throughout the demonstration is the Swamp Hoe amphibious excavator, showing how VMI equipment can work together on challenging jobs.
Round bale? No problem.

Today we're here at VMI headquarters. We've got a beautiful fall day and we're going to test out our MD-815 horizontal dredge. I'm feeding an entire round bale of hay.
Now we've seen this dredge cut through brush and sticks and hay before, but never anything of this quantity. We've seen these dredges used in all kinds of applications where we've got weeds and grass to deal with, and we want to see how it's going to handle this. So let's get started.
As you can see, that round bale was absolutely no problem for the MD-815 and the Sabre-Tooth cutterhead. It chewed it up and pumped it through with no trouble whatsoever.
We've got the remnants of an entire round bale of hay floating around in our training pond right now.
